What size speaker do I need for a school hall or church?

Accepted Answer

Most school halls and mid-size churches are well served by powered 12" or 15" tops on stands, often paired with a sub. Column arrays are a great alternative when speech intelligibility matters and you want a low visual profile. Email hi@audioworkshop.co.nz with the room size and we'll recommend a configuration.

Powered vs passive speakers — which should I buy?

Accepted Answer

Powered speakers have the amp built in, so you just add a source and go. Passive speakers need a matched power amplifier but give you more flexibility for fixed installs and bigger systems. For live use and portable PA, powered is usually the easier choice.
