What length XLR cable should I buy?

Match the cable to the run with a little slack — 3m and 6m are common for stage vocals, 10–15m for FOH runs in smaller venues, and 20m+ for larger halls or split monitoring. Balanced XLR can handle long runs without noise.

Speakon vs 1/4" jack for speakers?

Accepted Answer

Always use Speakon when the cabinet supports it — it locks in, handles high current safely and won't accidentally disconnect under foot. 1/4" jack is fine for low-power passive monitors but is increasingly retired on modern PA gear.
